Improving explosive power should be a priority in MMA training and for boxing. Here a medicine ball exercise every fighter should incorporate in a maa strength and conditioning program to improve the knockout punch. This exercise develops rotational explosive power from the core. But this is not only an upper body and core exercise: this is a full body exercise for total body strength and power: in this short video observe the work of the legs. If you are able to generate power from the legs to your upper body and arms, you can get tremendous knockout punch and power.

This full body exercise has to be done in short sets because we are looking for maximal power output: hit the wall with all power. If you are already in a good shape, do 5 to 8 reps, then recover between 30 seconds and one minute. Do a few sets: focus on the quality of each rep and stop when you feel you are losing explosive power.

Do not use a too heavy medicine ball: you have to keep a high velocity and finish the throw at the highest speed.
