The Bootcamp Workout: new release

The last 3 months have been a little crazy and the blog has not been updated for a while…sorry for that! Something very important happened: I got my Green card and will move to New York December 27th with my wife and our 2 daughters (3 and 5 years old). From France, this is a big move but this is for the best! We just moved out from the house where we lived for the last 2 years in Orleans (South of Paris): we are exhausted but very excited.

Anyway, the last few weeks I worked on my new product and now it is time to release it. If you are busy and motivated to get in shape without spending hours, you should check it out: The BootCamp Workout. The workouts are short and will produce a total body conditioning…but there is one catch: you’ll need to follow the 4 weeks plan. You can get more information here: The BootCamp Workout.

Outdoor conditioning drill

A few days ago I was with a group of fighters (boxing, french boxing and brazilian jiu jitsu) for a training camp: the camp took place near Lyon in France.

This training camp focused exclusively on conditioning and the goal was to get prepared for the new season, physically and mentally.

The first workout was early in the morning, always outdoors, for cardiovascular conditioning (interval training, fartlek), speed and others conditioning drills. The second workout was in the gym every evening.

Here a video you can watch these young athletes: this drill consisted in a sprint, push ups, shadow boxing and sprint back; 2 sets of 4 reps with 1 minute of recovery between rep.

If you try this workout, be sure your recovery is good enough before to start the next rep: you must be able to sustain the same intensity through out the set. The group was told to push at about 80% of their maximum intensity and it worked very well. But be aware it’s not a drill for beginners: you need to be already in a good shape. Also we run on the grass of a soccer field for the soft surface and minimize the impacts during the sprints.

Hamstring warm up and mobility

Athletes know the importance of the perfect warm up for the hamstrings. These muscles are the muscles for sprints and are responsible for explosive starts. Look at this simple mobility drill for hamstrings, demonstrated by coach Charles Staley. If you are involved in very dynamic and explosive leg movements, this exercise will prepare you very well, observe:

Is your back your weak link?

I hope not, but it’s obvious it’s a major problem for many people: back pain is a huge problem with almost no solutions except taking pain killers or going for surgery. Sure there are some case in need if the latest but I strongly believe many people with chronic back pain could find a way to get back their well being.

The main mistake people do is stopping moving. When the pain is reduced, you have to move, you have to exercise again progressively. Of course, choose the right exercises and be smart with the intensity.

What you need:
-    Strengthen your back muscles
-    Increase the endurance of your back muscles
-    Increase the mobility of your back muscles by increasing the range of motion of each movements

Your program has to include all this on a daily basis: movement is a key, just start easy, listen your body and be consistent. Many people are able to recover their freedom with the right approach.
